Our Story
It started with a passing comment. “We should write a book about that, I said to my father-in-law as he described his model for parental relationships. It was probably the fourth or fifth time I’d heard it. Ron always knew when he had good material. Whether it was a story from his past or an original thought, if he was sure about it, then you could be sure you’d hear about it. And probably more than once.
When the idea for this book came together, it was hard to not chuckle at the concept. Even for us. On one hand you had a guy that couldn’t type, and on the other you had a guy with no kids. What better pair could you find to author a book about parenting? My willingness and even desire at times, to do something unconventional was only ever matched by Ron’s His eagerness and enthusiasm to do things that others might consider unusual made him one of my favorite people to be around.
Ron’s life came to an abrupt and early end in January of 2020. He and Renee were on their way to meet with their community group at church when and oncoming vehicle crossed the centerline and the two vehicles collided. Ron passed away on the scene. He was 56. We’d only recently received the manuscript of the book. Ron hadn’t yet read it.
